Although Zodiac Watches date to 1882, the year 2001 marked a new beginning for the Zodiac Watch name when the company was purchased by Fossil. Promoted as the "new face of Swiss", the vintage designs of the latest Zodiac watch collections pay homage to the heydays of Zodiac Watches in the 1950s and 1960s when Zodiac Watches were the watch of choice for divers and the Zodiac Sea Wolf watch was the official watch of the Navy Seals. Not to be mistaken for actual vintage Zodiac Watches, today's Zodiac Watches are updated with bold modern colors, high-quality mineral and sapphire crystals and ultra-reliable Swiss quartz movements. While the rugged vintage designs such as that found in the V-Wolf collection, modeled after the original Zodiac Watches dive watches (see model ZO2300), have been a hit with men, women who nowadays are looking for large, playful looking sport watches love the colorful rubber-strap models found in the Zodiac Watches Cautchouc collections (see models ZO2231 and ZO2224). However fun and stylish the Zodiac Watches designs may be does not conceal the fact that Zodiac makes a very serious sport watch. The Zodiac Watches V-Wolf collection with a Caoutchouc rubber strap, or stainless steel bracelet is a true dive watch; water resistant to 1000 feet, thick sapphire crystal, screw-down crown, oversize luminous hands, unidirectional countdown bezel,screw-in case back and divers wetsuit extension on the bracelet models. Zodiac Watches' Casual Series includes the racing inspired Zodiac V-Sport series which features a striking two-tone dial and ventilated leather strap (see model ZO2602). This collection was said to be a show-stopper at when it was unveiled by Zodiac at Basel, Switzerland. The Zodiac Watches Classic Series includes a couple of world-time models (see models ZO7000 and ZO7001) that merit exceptional recognition for their combination of beauty and function.
